Apple unveils hotly-anticipated VR headset Apple Vision Pro at WWDC

Apple Inc. revealed its eagerly anticipated augmented reality/virtual reality (AR/VR) headset, named Apple Vision Pro,  at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 5, marking a significant shakeup of the company’s lineup of consumer electronics.

The device, which is a standalone computing device being touted as a ‘spatial computer’ and not just a headset, includes a 3D camera and spatial audio, and is geared towards revolutionizing user interaction with the digital world, blurring the lines between reality and digital experiences.

Tim Cook touted the new headset, noting that “You’re no longer limited by a display.”

The device features the company’s M2 chip and optics that were made in collaboration with Zeiss and includes a 4K-capable OLED display.

Apple Vision Pro uses machine learning as well as a neural network to create a 3D digital persona for interactions on conference calls and on the device’s “spatial experiences,” which will run on an operating system, that has been named Vision OS.

Apple is also partnering with Disney to bring exclusive experiences to the Apple Vision Pro.
